Hi,

I’m Ian Harris, H&S Advisor and Director of CTC South West Ltd.
I’ve been working in health and safety since 2008. I mainly work with construction companies where H&S is very important and made difficult by the nomadic nature of the work.
I also support a wide range of other businesses including warehouses, fabrication workshops, cleaners, boat builders / boat yards, sign-makers, haulage contractors and many more.
I enjoy a challenge, and with over 15 years of experience I can provide a realistic and practical approach to H&S in your organisation.
I normally work with Directors, Contracts Managers or other members of your management team to put in place an effective health and safety management system based on HSE publication HSG65. This helps you to prioritise the most important aspects of your H&S, so you don’t get overwhelmed, and also helps you to continually review, update and improve your business processes.
A lot of what I do also crosses over into Quality Management and Environmental Management, so it helps to loot at these + H&S as one system covering Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality – SHEQ. On top of this, many of the companies I work with need to show that they are legally compliant in other aspects of their business including Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Bribery and Corruption, Modern Slavery… So over time I’ve learnt a lot about this too, and I can help with the training, policies and procedures your business might need.
Working in construction my work is continually scrutinised and assessed by contractors, external assessors and the HSE. A lot of H&S documentation gets written and filed never to be seen again, but the nature of my work means there’s always someone checking. This is great, as it means the quality and robustness of my work is continually improving as I learn from every piece of feedback I get.
And that means my customers get a great service and peace of mind.
