Fire Detection and Alarms;

The systems required will depend on the size and complexity of the premisses, and the number of people.

Detecting a Fire;

Detection can be from small ceiling mounted smoke detectors to large complex interlinked systems. These systems can also be linked to local fire services.

Warning of a Fire;

Again, Fire alarms should suit the premisses and the work activities at the premisses. For example, a bell alarm system might not be heard in a very noisy workplace or by plant operators, therefore flashing lights might be required.

If you do hear the alarm, make sure everyone else in your area have heard it as well, shout ‘FIRE’ if necessary.
