The Cost of a CSCS Card in February 2024

To get a CSCS card, there are 3 things you need to pay for:

The 1 day H&S awareness course or equivalent (only if applying for a green labourers card): £100 approx

There is a registration fee paid to CITB or other awarding body, and publications. The remaining cost goes to the training provider to deliver the training and administer their training centre.

The CITB Health, Safety and Environmental Test: £22.50

This cost is split between CITB who created the tests, and Pearson Vue who run the test centres and administer the test.

CITB is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Education. It charges Levy to registered construction companies and distributes grants and funding to promote training and education in the Construction Industry – it is not a profit making organisation.

Pearson Vue is an American company with a turnover in 2022 or $4.4 billion.

The CSCS card itself: £36+vat

This fee is charged by CSCS to administer the scheme.

CSCS is a privately owned UK based company.

As of 31 May 2023:

  • CSCS had here are 10 directors and 1 company secretary.
  • 11 employees on average (including directors)
  • Turnover of almost £7.5m in the year to 31 May 2023.
  • Profit (after tax) of just over £915,000 in the year to 31 May 2023.
  • Capital and Reserves of almost £5.2m
